Internship program Main Menu

Internship program is an opportunity for people with strong interest in human rights issues to acquire some practical experience and some additional knowledge.

Each student or people associated with the Centers who show an interest for working in Human Rights Centers outside of his/her own country can apply fort his project. Having in mind the needs and situations of partner institutions, there are three general types of internship that have been taken into consideration as priorities:

a) Staff of newly established Human Rights Centers, on the level of student assistants; hosting organization therefore should be Human Rights Centers from Sarajevo and Banja Luka, as well as Belgrade Center for Human Rights as focal point.

b) Students or other partner institution's associates who are closely connected with the partner institutions and their activities (e.g. possible future employees, young researchers in the field of human rights, future university staff, post-graduates….); hosted organizations should be all HRC-Net participating institutions

c) "IT Assistants" (or present/future employee srelated to libraries and IT) who are supposed to take care of the documentation collection and the development of information capacities of partner institutions.

The internship program has been announced through the internet and newsletter. Each center has already set dates for periods in which they can host one or two interns. In a very short period of time lots of potential candidates have contacted Human Rights Centers and Focal Points where they have been given application forms and provided with additional information.

All this raised the program to the next level of realization which consists of selecting the interns.o

Process of Selection of Interns

In general, it is up to the interested "home" institution to select the best possible candidate(s) and send a proposal to the International and Regional Coordinators' Offices. Certainly, there is a necessity that "sending institution "proposes/identifies the hosting institution, based on the internship candidate's interests and the sending institutions' respective interests.

Based on the number of candidates, their interests and interests of "sending and hosting institutions," International and Regional Coordinators will, in cooperation with each individual partner institutions, create and offer a final scheme for the internship program. Based on the final scheme, introductory seminars will be organized for the interns at the beginning of the internship period at one of the participating institutions in order to prepare them for their tasks.

It is important to highlight that during the internship the respective hosting institution will be responsible for the supervision and the briefing, while each intern will have to write report on her/his experience at the end of her/his term.
